"Dior and I"

I am never a documentary person. Always fall asleep whenever watching documentary movies, including Disney - my all time favorite. However, I decided to give my another favorite a try, Christian Dior. Dior has always been my favorite luxury brand because I admire how Mr. Dior defined the "New Look" for the ladies after World War II.

In 1940s, when guys were gone for the war, loads of responsibilities fell on women. During this difficult period, "practical" and "simple" became the fashion keywords.

Despite of the fashion trend and culture, Mr. Dior created the new look which brought back the uniqueness of women - femininity.  Full skirt and fancy dresses which was seen as a waste when the design first came out but soon be recognized as luxury fashion look.

Dior and I recorded the first couture collection done by the current Belgian creative director Raf Simons. The movie brought the audience into the fashion house in Paris and met the talented team. I was amazed that all the beautiful pieces are made by a small team. (with all the detailed works, I was expecting way more people working) It was really interesting to watch how the new director to lead the old fashion house and input his own creativity while maintaining the spirit of Christian Dior. My heart was beating so hard by seeing all the obstacles they have overcame and WOWed the world. Love how the documentary has mixed the clips of Mr. Dior and the whole movie was narrated by him which made the audience felt that Mr. Dior has never leave the house and guide them whenever there's a need.

I was very inspired by the documentary how details matters and nothing is impossible. My favorite scene was when Raf told the textile representative : " Don't tell me it's impossible before the show." while the representative was trying explain there's not enough time for the fabric production. In the end, they succeeded:)
